Singapore Airlines And Air Mauritius Sign Codeshare Agreement

 



Editors note: A few entries ago, we examined codesharing in the airline industry , as well as its benefits to both airlines and passengers. Well, the National carrier of the Island nation of Mauritius has inked a codeshare agreement with the flag carrier of the city state of Singapore. This deal will facilitate cooperation between both airlines on flights to Mauritius, a popular and growing tourist destination as well as enable Air Mauritius access to Star Alliance member Singapore Airlines' robust network at its Changi international airport hub (SIN). Changi airport has won the award for best airport of the year several times in a row. Air Mauritius passengers now have easy access to this world class airport along with its top notch facilities.
 This is definitely an exciting deal which will undoubtedly attract major benefits to both airlines -

Changi airport is designed to be both environment and passenger friendly, with lush soothing greenery to relax passengers on their way to and from their flights.



Singapore Airlines and Air Mauritius have signed a codeshare agreement to provide customers more choice and convenience when travelling to Mauritius.
Under the agreement, Singapore Airlines will add its ‘SQ’ designator code to Air Mauritius-operated flights between Singapore and Mauritius. Air Mauritius currently operates three flights per week on the route.

“We are delighted with the new agreement with Air Mauritius, which will add the beautiful island nation of Mauritius to the SIA codeshare network. This is another example of how we are continuously looking to expand our reach to provide customers

across the SIA network with more travel options,” said Singapore Airlines’ Senior Vice President Marketing Planning, Mr Tan Kai Ping.
“Air Mauritius is pleased to announce Singapore Airlines as a codeshare partner as we look to further strengthen the Mauritius – Singapore route.  This new partnership will enable our customers to benefit from the networks of Air Mauritius and Singapore Airlines through Mauritius and Singapore,” said Megh Pillay, CEO of Air Mauritius.

The codeshare agreement is expected to take effect for travel from 1 November 2016, subject to regulatory approvals.
